Fulham vs Manchester City (12:30)
With Liverpool not playing until Sunday, Manchester City can steal a march on their title rivals. Guardiola’s City continue their charge towards an unprecedented clean sweep of trophies with a visit to Fulham. The Carabao Cup is already in the bag, City are odds-on to win the FA Cup and have a Champions League quarter final tie against Spurs to look forward to. It is however the Premier League and Liverpool’s relentless challenge that threatens to derail Guardiola’s quadruple dream.
League position, form, past results and team news all point towards a City win and even at odds of 1/9 to visitors will attract plenty of support. There are a massive 57 points between City in second and Fulham in nineteenth and the home side’s immediate return to the second tier is all-but-confirmed.
It’s now almost ten years since Fulham last claimed all three points against Manchester City and go into the game at Craven Cottage having lost the last three games by an aggregate 10-0 score line.
In the league, Manchester City’s push for back-to-back titles have seen them win six consecutive games. In contrast, Fulham have lost the last seven.
Team News
The visitors will also be buoyed by the return to fitness of several key players. Kevin de Bruyne, John Stones, Vincent Kompany and Benjamin Mendy could all feature in West London whilst Fernandinho returns from suspension.
Recommended Bets
Saturday’s meeting is a contest between the league’s most potent attack and its leakiest defence so, expect goals! Manchester City to win and over 3.5 match goals is available at 4/5 which could be the best bet of the entire weekend.
If City are to be amongst the goals then the man who could spearhead that attack is top scorer, Sergio Aguero. However, with only three of his 18 Premier League goals this season coming away from the Etihad Stadium then Raheem Sterling may be a more appealing first / any time score option.
Sterling is the man of the moment and a serious contender for the PFA Player of the Year award. In his last four games for club and country, Sterling has amassed eight goals. You can back him to score first at Craven Cottage at 3/1 whilst he is a generous 8/13 to score at any time.
