There are fourteen Premier League teams in action on Saturday. Having covered Manchester City’s trip to Fulham, we now take a look at the six remaining English top-flight matches taking place across the country.
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Southampton
This massive South-Coast derby will give two of the league’s strugglers a huge opportunity to ease their relegation concerns. Southampton arrive at the AmEx Stadium just two points above the dreaded drop zone whilst hosts, Brighton, are just three points better off.
Both sides won last time out and will be confident of avoiding the drop. But, with Chelsea away next up for Brighton and Southampton set to host Liverpool, you do feel that the pressure will build on Saturday’s loser.
With not losing almost as important as winning for these pair, a draw could be a popular bet. Every Premier League meeting between the two local rivals has ended in a stalemate, therefore, at 2/1 that could prove the most popular bet.
Match Odds
Brighton & Hove Albion – 6/4
Draw – 2/1
Southampton – 2/1
Burnley vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Another side at risk of relegation are Burnley. The Clarets have lost four matches in a row and are just one place and two points clear of the drop zone. Burnley have never lost five Premier League games in a row and host a Wolves side that have dipped slightly below the high standards they’ve set this season.
Wolves are seventh in the league and in contention for a Europa League place however, with an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on the horizon, they have claimed just one win in their last five in the league.
The reverse fixture was a cagey affair with Wolves claiming a 1-0 win. With next week’s FA Cup game likely to be on the minds of the Wolves players, Burnley could edge this. Back a home win with InterBet at 63/10.
Match Odds
Burnley – 2/1
Draw – 2/1
Wolverhampton Wanderers – 29/20
Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield Town
Huddersfield Town’s two year stay in the Premier League is all-but-over. The Terriers are 16 points adrift of safety with just seven games remaining. Ahead of their return to the Sky Bet Championship, many of Huddersfield’s players are now arguably playing for their futures. You should therefore right them off on Saturday at your peril.
West Ham United were guilty of underestimating Huddersfield Town last time out and were fortunate to come back from 3-1 to win 4-3. Saturday’s game is unlikely to offer anywhere near the drama and goals as that thriller at the London Stadium.
No Premier League ground has seen less goals than Selhurst Park this season and the weekend’s visitors have scored nine goals fewer than any other team this campaign. Crystal Palace have won the last three head-to-head meetings without conceding a goal. You can back Crystal Palace to win to nil at 6/5 with InterBet.
Match Odds
Crystal Palace – 9/20
Draw – 16/5
Huddersfield Town – 13/2
Leicester City vs AFC Bournemouth
This game is now nothing more than a mid-table dead rubber. Although both sides will have aspirations of finishing in the top half of the table, it may lack the intensity of some of the day’s other games.
The two sides have met seven times in the Premier League before Saturday and five of those games have ended in a stalemate. In each of the past two seasons this fixture at the King Power Stadium ended as a 1-1 draw. InterBet are offering 11/2 on a repeat of that 1-1 result.
Match Odds
Leicester City – 3/4
Draw – 11/4
AFC Bournemouth – 17/5
Manchester United vs Watford
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take charge of his first Manchester United game as permanent manager at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Norwegian has been in caretaker charge at the Red Devils since December and has helped transform the fortunes of United.
As they bid to maintain their push for Champions League qualification, Watford will visit Old Trafford at the weekend. Like Wolves away at Burnley, there is always the possibility that Watford will have one eye on next week’s FA Cup semi-final. If the visitors offering anything other than 100% at Old Trafford this could be a comfortable afternoon for Manchester United.
The Red Devils won the reverse fixture at Vicarage Road and are currently enjoying a run of 15 wins in 16 games against Watford. A 3-1 win at Vicarage Road in 2016 remains Watford’s only return from any game against Manchester United in a run that now stretches back more than 32 years.
Half a dozen Man United players withdrew from their respective national squads during the international break. Romelu Lukaku and Eric Bailly are likely to miss out again on Saturday but Solskjaer will be able to call on Anthony Martial, Nemanja Matic, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw.
With Lukaku absent and both Rashford and Martial still returning to fitness, Paul Pogba could again prove the match-winner at Old Trafford. The French midfielder is 4/1 to score first or 23/20 to score any time.
Match Odds
Manchester United – 2/5
Draw – 15/4
Watford – 6/1
West Ham United vs Everton (17:30)
Saturday’s late kick-off is a good old-fashioned Premier League clash between West Ham United and Everton. Both sides had realistic ambitions of finishing as the ‘best of the rest’ this season behind the traditional Big Six. However, they have endured equally underwhelming seasons so far.
Just two points separate West Ham in ninth and Everton in eleventh and with Wolves (7th) and Watford (8th) both looking forward to a Wembley FA Cup semi-final, the door could be open for either West Ham or Everton to sneak into seventh place and the final Europa League spot.
West Ham United are unbeaten in their last six league games at the London Stadium but got out of jail in their last fixture. The Hammers were trailing basement club, Huddersfield 3-1 with just 15 minutes remaining but a thrilling finish saw the hosts come back to claim a thrilling 4-3 win.
West Ham have scored nine goals in their last three league games but host an Everton side with three clean sheets in their past four games.
In what is likely to be an open affair, the draw at 9/4 could be very tempting. Javier Hernandez was the hero against Huddersfield Town, coming off the bench to score twice in the last ten minutes. The Mexican has probably done enough to earn a place in the starting line-up this week and is 7/2 to open the scoring for the Hammers.
Match Odds
West Ham United – 29/20
Draw – 9/4
Everton – 19/10
