Sunday may mark the start of British Summer Time, it may also be Mother’s Day but for us at InterBet it’s all about Super Sunday, with two mouth-watering Premier League games taking place. Cardiff City host Chelsea before Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. Here at InterBet we preview both games, including team news, betting tips and enhanced match odds.
Cardiff City vs Chelsea
Cardiff City’s hopes of survival were dealt a major blow on Saturday after wins for both Burnley and Southampton left the Bluebirds five points adrift of safety. Huddersfield’s two-year stay in the Premier League was ended on Saturday whilst Fulham are near-certainties to join them in the Sky Bet Championship next season. Now, Cardiff City are expected to fill the third relegation spot.
With games against Burnley, Brighton, Fulham and Crystal Palace still to come, there are plenty of points up for grabs for Cardiff City. Therefore, Sunday’s game at home to Chelsea has become something of a free hit. Nobody is expecting anything more than an away win and that makes Cardiff City a dangerous prospect.
The Bluebirds’ home form has proved crucial this season. 20 of their 28 league points have been won at the Cardiff City Stadium. However, their chances have been dealt a blow by the news that Scotland international, Callum Paterson, suffered a season-ending injury on international duty. The 24-year old sustained an ankle injury in Scotland’s recent win over San Marino and will miss the rest of the season.
Chelsea arrive in South Wales under pressure after a return of just one point from their last two Premier League games. The Blues are now languishing in sixth place in the Premier League and their hopes of a top four finish are now out of their hands.
New England international, Callum Hudson-Odoi, will be in contention to start at Cardiff after impressing for the Three Lions recently. Speculation over the youngster’s future is rife at the moment which will put extra pressure on Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, to start giving the 18-year old some playing time in the Premier League.
Chelsea have had the upper hand in previous meetings between the two sides. Cardiff City have not beaten Chelsea since winning a League Cup fixture way back in 1986. In the league you have to go back to 1981 for the last time Cardiff City claimed all three points against Chelsea.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur
After Manchester City’s routine 2-0 win away at Fulham on Saturday, the pressure is back on Liverpool in the battle for the Premier League title. Trailing by one point with an inferior goal different only a win will be enough to take Jurgen Klopp’s side back to the Premier League summit.
Statistically, Liverpool are currently enjoying their best ever Premier League season. A win for the Reds on Sunday will see them break a club record for most points earned at this stage of any league season. 79 points from 32 games with eclipse anything achieved not just in the Premier League era but during the glory years of the 1970’s and 80’s.
A major factor in achieving that record-high points tally has been their incredible home form. Anfield has become a fortress for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and they are now unbeaten in 36 home league games, including all 15 so far this season.
Three points on Sunday will be equally as important for their opponents, Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs currently sit third in the Premier League table but having once been dark horses in the Premier League’s title race, they are now looking over their shoulders in the race for a top four spot. A dreadful run of form that has Spurs earn just one point in their last four games means that the gap between them and Arsenal in fifth is now down to just a single point.
Head to head meetings between these two Premier League giants tends to go the way of Liverpool. The Reds have lost just one of the last 13 meetings between the teams in all competitions. The reverse fixture at Wembley Stadium earlier this season finished in a 2-1 win for the Merseysiders. Another 2-1 win for Liverpool is available at 13/2.
Roberto Firmino was the hero that day. Liverpool’s Brazilian forward put in a goal-scoring man of the match display in the Wembley sunshine. However, the Liverpool attacking player shining most recently is his teammate, Sadio Mane. Currently enjoying his best run of form in front of goal for Liverpool, Mane has now found the back of the net in six successive league games at Anfield.
Now a dark horse for the Premier League Golden Boot, you can back Mane to add to his fifteen league goals at InterBet. Get the latest odds on Mane to score on Sunday. Pre-match and in-play odds will cover the any time and first / last goal scorer betting markets.
