Newport County Shirt Sponsorship Pays Off for Interbet

Newport County have made headlines over the past few weeks thanks to an incredible run to the fifth round of the FA Cup. The League Two club dumped Premier League giants, Leicester City, out of the cup in round three before beating Championship promotion-chasers, Middlesbrough in their fourth-round replay.

Newport’s FA Cup fairy-tale may have come to an end in round five, but there was no shame in losing to the bookmakers’ favourites to win the competition, Manchester City. That 4-1 defeat to City at Rodney Parade won The Exiles many admirers, with opposing manager, Pep Guardiola full of praise for manager, Mike Flynn, the Newport County players and the sell-out Rodney Parade crowd.

As proud sponsors of the South Wales club, Interbet have shared Newport County’s recent successes. The exposure provided by having the company logo emblazoned across the black and amber Newport County shirts during their cup run has seen Interbet experience a huge rise in customer acquisitions.

TV Exposure

Newport County’s exploits in this season’s FA Cup have been televised almost every step of the way. Their all-Welsh clash with Wrexham in round two was shown live on BT Sport, as were their games at home to both Middlesbrough and Manchester City in rounds four and five. The shock win over Leicester City in round three was shown live on the BBC.

That run of games against Leicester City, Middlesbrough (twice) and Manchester City gave the fans some memorable moments along the way however the County board would’ve been equally as thrilled with the cash windfall that has come their way. A combination of ticket sales, prize money and a share of the television revenue has seen the club pocket well in excess of £1 million in the past couple of months.

FA Cup Heroics: Thirty Years in the Making

Thirty years ago, this month, Newport County, were forced into liquidation and expelled from the Conference just 29 games into their first season down in English football’s fifth tier. Their recent upturn in fortunes is a huge testament to the work that continues to be done by the club, its players and its supporters.

The sponsorship deal between Newport County and Interbet is still in its infancy, with the popular online betting firm taking over as The Exiles’ main sponsor from Mr Tom just last summer. The ambition at both Newport County and Interbet is incredibly high and both will expect to experience huge growth over the coming years.

In the league, Newport County’s promotion push from League Two has been somewhat hindered by their recent cup run, but their recent upturn in form has indicated that a play-off push could yet be a possibility. A successful charge towards play-off contention could once again see the club playing in front of a seven-figure TV audience before the season’s out.

Interbet Growth

Interbet remain excited about their ongoing partnership with Newport County but having agreed several recent sponsorship deals with various Football League clubs, it is clear that this fairly new online betting firm possesses a real desire to expand further. In an exciting time of growth, Interbet have already formed new working relationships with two more League Two clubs in Exeter City and the Paul Scholes-managed Oldham Athletic and League One’s Gillingham. Outside of the English Football League, Interbet have also struck up a sponsorship deal in Scottish Premier League side, St Mirren as well as Chepstow Racecourse, home of the Welsh Grand National.
